You just got a big utility bill, you think. You want to use less energy but how. This is where to start.

HOMEWORK

Adding Energy has set up a few do it yourself tasks to help you understand your energy usage.

Homework 1: Do That Sheet - How much do you spend a year on energy usage? What piece of that is heating? What part is cooling? This is a quick way to do a simple analysis of your bills yourself.

Homework 2: Utility Bill Workout - How your changing your usage changes your bill? This is an exercise that helps you see what your next unit of energy costs, the average price per unit and what you pay for no usage.

Homework 3: Fuel conversion - Once you know what you use for fuels, you might be able to change the fuel you use. This substitution can change what you pay for your energy. Is a propane dryer, cheaper than electric? Are wood pellets cheaper for space heating than oil?
